American Military University
OVERVIEW
American Military University is a private higher education institution within the American Public University System together with American Public University. As one of the largest higher education provider to the armed forces, the system provides relevant and affordable distance learning to over 50,000 working adults worldwide.
The university was founded in 1991 by James P. Etter, a former Marine Corps officer and instructor to meet the unique educational needs of the military. It was reorganized into the American Public University System (APUS) in 2002. Now the university has its corporate and academic offices in Charles Town, West Virginia, and administrative offices in Manassas, Virginia.
American Military University offers degrees in associate’s, bachelor’s and Master’s programs in disciplines including technology, education, business administration, liberal arts, military studies, intelligence, etc. Most of its students are working adults, who carry on their study at home in all 50 states and over 100 foreign countries.

The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association.

The courses offered by American Military University are delivered online, which start monthly, and finish in eight- or sixteen- session. About 70 percent students are pursuing undergraduate degrees and about 25 percent master’s degrees.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to complete and submit their application online for admission with no application fee charged. Besides, information about previous educational experiences are also required.
COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID
Tuitions vary among different programs. For undergraduates, it takes USD 250 per credit hour, and USD 750 per 3 credit course. While for graduate students, it is USD 325 per credit hour and USD 975 per 3 credit course.
Two types of federal aids are provided at American Military University, which is loans and grants. Most students, regardless of income, qualify for some form of Federal Student Aid, which is just based on financial needs.
