OVERVIEW
New York University is a private, nonsectarian American research university. Based on a nonprofit base, it produces 34 Nobel Prize winners, 3 Abel Prize winners, 10 National Medal of Science recipients, 16 Pulitzer Prize winners, 30 Academy Award winners, and Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winners since its establishment. Besides, the university has one of the largest alumni bodies in the world, and till 2012 it has 50,917 students.
Founded in 1831, the university is located in New York City, New York, United States. With its main campus situated in the Greenwich Village, it has six centers throughout Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn, as well as many more other sites in the world.
