Stanford University

Stanford University is a prominent private research university in the United States. With nearly 2,000 academic staff, it accepts about 7,000 undergraduates and more than 8,000 postgraduate students coming from all over the world.

The university was founded in 1891 by Leland Stanford and his wife Jane Lathrop Stanford in honor of their son, Leland Stanford, Jr., who passed away before his 16th birthday. It is located at Stanford, California in the United States and the campus covers more than 8,000 acres.

Stanford University offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degree programs in its two academic schools and five professionals schools. There are over 70 departments in the seven schools of Stanford University.

ACCREDITATION

The university is usually ranked in the top two or three universities in World University Rankings. It is regularly ranked in the top five universities in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. There are more than 50 Stanford faculty, staff and alumni who have won the Nobel Prize.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for the university are required to provide an academic transcript, SAT scores, recommendation letters, essays and any other application documents the university requires.

COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID

It costs $54,947 for students to pay for the tuition and fees at Stanford University every year. Students also need to buy text books and other materials for study by themselves, which costs, in general, over $1,000 a year.

The university provides several forms of financial aid including jobs and optional loans to students. It waives tuition and fees for families with incomes below $60,000 and families with incomes below $10,000 are not required to pay tuition. 80% of students are on some form of financial aid at Stanford.
