OVERVIEW
University of Arizona is a public institution, also known as a space-grant public university for higher education. This university enrolls both undergraduate students and postgraduate students. In 2012, the number of its undergraduate enrollment has reached 30,592, while its postgraduate enrollment has reached 8,421.
UA is founded in the year of 1885, making it also the very first university in the state of Arizona. University of Arizona is also the largest university in the state. It is located in the urban area in Arizona. The school campus is big, covering an area of 380 acres.
The university offers degrees in bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate’s programs. The vast majority of its students are enrolled as undergraduates pursuing a four-year bachelor’s degree. University of Arizona also provides students with pre-professional programs, cooperative education programs and other various study programs.

ACCREDITATION
In 1917, the university became affiliated with the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2000, UA was accredited by the North Central Association’s Higher Learning Commission again. In addition to that, many of its colleges have also been accredited by other national institutions.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for the university are required to possess high school diplomas. General Educational Development (GED) is equally effective. Standardized tests are not required for application. However, it is considered very important to have a good GPA and a well-written application essay. Among all non-academic factors, the applicant’s talent usually gives the applicant an advantage.
COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID
The tuitions and fees for year 2011-2012 is USD 9,286. Students spend USD 1,500 for life expanses on average and USD 8,540 for accommodation.
The university offers Need-based scholarship to qualified candidates. There are three kinds of scholarships in total, including private scholarships, college gift aid from institutional funds and federal nursing scholarship. Students will receive up to USD 11, 037 based on their qualifications.
